Poll contenders revisited!

The race between Aesop Rock and A Perfect Circle has been incredibly close in this week's poll. In the interest of encouraging that, because I personally find it cool to see, here's a little more from each of these guys - partially to help everybody make a decision, partially because I love them both.

Aesop Rock

With this track, Aes shows off his real skills as an alt-rapper in a way that hasn't really been shown by the relatively hyper-accessible tracks I've posted from him before. It's just a bit harder to envelop oneself in if you're unfamiliar with his work, but if you dig this track, you'll dig the whole album.

A Perfect Circle

This smooth, slow reflection on recovery and rebuilding is just too damn good. As is typical for APC, sparse, emotional guitars wind around Maynard's emotionally charged vocalizing to build an atmosphere and keep the track moving at an irresistable, though relaxed, pace.

That's it for the week, everybody! Enjoy your weekends! Vote if you haven't! See you on Monday with one of these two as the first post of the week.

If I ask, "Who's on first?" do you immediately start going through the act in your head? "Who's on first. What's on second. I don't know's on third." Some of my younger readers may not have a clue. Of course, I'm talking about probably the most famous Abbott and Costello act. In my opinion, it's their greatest work. I recently showed my kids a version of this act on YouTube (link to video). I wasn't sure how they'd respond. They're ages 10 and 13. I don't know why I doubted they would get it. After all, I was probably in the same age range the first time I heard the act. The Abbott and Costello act, that is. Get your minds out of the gutter. They got it all right. They thought it was hilarious. Great comedy certainly survives the ravages of time. However, my point in bringing up Who's on First? is to demonstrate the usual created corporate confusion catastrophe that is Capitalism. Google AdSense earnings versus payments will have you seeing red when you hear the truth. Costello may have been confused. But, the confusion of Who's on First? is nothing compared to the malevolent manipulation of monopolistic megalopolis Google. (A transcript of Who's on First? can be found here.)

Before I continue, first, let me say that today's end of week tutorial is not the continuation of the tutorial from Tuesday. That tutorial will conclude on next Tuesday. Today, is a bonus tutorial. Perhaps the most important tutorial a new AdSense user can read.

Some AdSense users may wonder when they are going to get paid. Many know the first payment is made after reaching a payment threshold. In the US, that threshold is one-hundred U.S. dollars. Obviously, it takes time to reach this threshold. Why? Well, unless you are incredibly lucky, or part of an organized crime syndicate, it takes time to generate traffic at ones blog. And it is this traffic that results in AdSense clicks. And these clicks that result in payment.

If you went in the grocery store to buy an Apple, and the price listed was $1.25 per pound, you'd know something was wrong. Am I right? After all, we all know Apples cost more than PC's. And what are they doing trying to sell an Apple in a grocery store? This analogy is heading in the wrong direction. I shall move it to the trash can. No analogy is needed to explain what I am about to. So, get yourself a cold one (it doesn't matter that it's only 8 AM). And take a couple of these tranquilizers. What? Would you rather I said, inject yourself with some heroine? You're going to need to be relaxed for what you are about to learn.

Google is into everything. Am I right? I mean, there's now even Google TV. What's next, Google car sales? Ah, you laugh. But, Google, in fact, already uses the tactics of car salesmen. And we all know car salesmen rank lower than insurance salesmen which rank lower than pond scum. Am I right? I suppose women can sell cars and insurance too. But, I think they are better suited for dancing around a pole in a dimly lit room, with lots of flashing lights and loud music, while they undress. I'm kidding. (No I'm not!) See, now you got me all distracted!
